I would very much love to see a toolkit independent implementation.
And even on wayland, could a transparent overlay that does support x and y coordinates be a solution to circumvent wayland?
The more you control, the more freedom of development, quite simple.
But the world is heading the other way, that is what I have witnessed in my life time and I'm not a junior anymore.

The OP in the bugtracker is clearly not aware of what it takes to keep up with the ever ongoing developments that add nothing and take all, and not open to reason and debate.
