What you say is right, but it is not related to the problem described in 
this thread, that I fixed in the last commit.

They are internal in Gambas because of the exact problem you describe: 
the ones installed on the system are often out of date. It's just that I 
must update them more frequently.

Moreover, the XDG shell scripts are currently slowly replaced by the 
DBus XDG portal we were talking about in another thread. The advantage 
of shell scripts is that they do not depend on DBus.
