Other things like .gitignore  do not prove that it is a project, also 
.gambas only occurs if the project has not been compiled or has not been 
cleaned.

I would think if you really want to check for sure and for sure, then 
open the .project file and check that it has the necessary stuff like it 
is a text file and it does have "# Gambas Project File 3.0" in it.
