for composite controls, the third character could be...
Note: where the characters are 3 is because it would not help to better
distinguish
I would propose these characters:

Area --> a
Bar --> r
Box --> x
Button --> btn
Chooser --> h
Editor --> d
Label --> lbl
Palette --> plt
Panel --> pnl
Properties --> prp
Strip --> stp
View --> w

(I remember  all?)

Example: txa = TextArea, txx = TextBox, txe = TextEditor, lbl = TextLabel
(which is the same as simple label)
And so to follow for everything...
