I think you have a problem on your Mandriva, because the symbolic links are 
present in the *.tar.gz file. How do you uncompress it?

Apparently your reconf-all output is truncated. Can you provide the full one? 
And can you run './reconf-all', './configure' and 'make' as a normal user?
