That is the point: if Wayland was correctly designed, Gambas should not care about the graphical system it runs on.

Instead, most of GUI softwares are more or less broken, which you name "becoming obsolete".

Are projects like wayback or xwayland something that Gambas Apps can work with and, perhaps, integrate in order for the produced apps to work on a wayland session without too much modification?

All GUI programs can run on xwayland, but xwayland is not a 100% equivalent of X11, because of Wayland. In other words, Gambas programs run with xwayland, they are just far less broken than when running directly with wayland, but still a bit broken.

As for wayback, it's mostly a fullscreen xwayland... But then, what's the point of Wayland? What does it brings exactly, beside HDR support? If HDR support is added to X11, why not just using X11 directly?
