A bit late to the discussion, but versions do matter on debian/ubuntu as you found out. It's good to see figured it out and solved it.

I did notice that there is a 'home:gambas:3.20/gambas' and a 'home:gambas:stable/gambas' link on osb. The 3.20 has some files containing the version files changed (6 hours ago it says) , the stable one not (2 to 4 days ago it says). The 3.20 is where versions where fixed, but the stable still seems off.

_service file for gambas3.20 on osb contains:
---
<param name="revision">3.20.0</param>
<param name="versionformat">3.20.0+20250111</param>
---
_service file for stable on osb contains:
---
<param name="revision">stable</param>
<param name="versionformat">3.20.0+%cd</param>
---

_service:obs_scm:gambas.obsinfo file for gambas3.20 contains:

_service:obs_scm:gambas.obsinfo for stable contains:

Then there is
_service:obs_scm:gambas-3.20.0+20250111.obscpio on gambas3.20
and
_service:obs_scm:gambas-3.20.0+20250108.obscpio  on stable

I can't see inside these last files but seeing their size I guess it is the source archive with a renamed extension for the build service.
Seeing all this, I suppose installing form the stable link might still give problems.
