So I would say that emoji are not really supported by Qt at the moment?
Finally I found a font on Mint 20.3 which displays the emojis under QT5: Noto Color Emoji
On Mint 21.2, 21.3 and 22 Cinnamon Apple-emojis are displayed perfectly under QT 5 at any selected font.
The same applies to OpenSuse 15.3 and 15.6 Leap KDE. On Debian 12 Bookworm Cinnamon I got a slightly different b/w variant of the emojis.
Could this possibly depend on the QT version (5.13.8 on my old Mint 20.3)? Anyway, I now have enough facts to make decisions for my email client. Thanks to all for your support. Claus
