Then you can hit 'ENTER' to start the search, or 'CTRL+ENTER' to browse
and open the search result list.

This is also not intuitive (because the form tells nothing about this
possibility) and here I find the old fashion better: As soon as there
were multiple findings in different files the result list popped up.

I tested it again. It is much faster than the old one but the user has to read it's code to understand how it works. Here are my points:

1)

Still the form says nothing about the possibility to hit 'CTRL+ENTER'.

2)

'CTRL+F' multiple times:

The hint in the search field ("CTRL+F again to change location") is only visible when the search field is empty and one alters the type of the search with the combobox.

So a person who types the search string first an afterwards alters the search type will never see it.

As the search form remembers the last search string (good!) the hint is shown only once after the project is opened and then never again.

As soon as the hint "CTRL+F again to change location" is visible (because the combobox has the focus) the form doesn't accept 'CTRL+F'. That's awkward.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The users definitely needs better help to understand how it works.

Alles Gute
