Gambas3 and external callbacks

The very last paragraph on the page at https://gambaswiki.org/wiki/howto/extern (in the "A Gambas Drum Machine" section) says:
"The problem, in this program, is that the normal ALSA interface does not provide a callback to signal when an event is ready to 
be read (even if it did, gambas2 could not use it)."

Is that true also for Gambas3?
