This has something to do with the tab not being initialized first when populating.

I tried the program and found with GTK if i first click tab 3 , then click back to tab 1, then press populate it works correctly.

If the list populates before viewing the tab the list (tab contents) appears to be limited to only a few pixels square in the top left corner.
