yep. I have elision when the data is too "wide" for the space it needs 
to fit in and

your approach uses column widths, I got away from that as column 
position was just more intuitive to me in this respect as I dont need to 
figure out what the proper widths should be. Others may prefer the 
column width though and I may try it that way to see.
