There is only one version installed on my system:
ll /usr/lib64/libexif*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     17 Mar 31  2022 /usr/lib64/libexif.so.12 -> libexif.so.12.3.4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 289880 Mar 31  2022 /usr/lib64/libexif.so.12.3.4

Specifying the library without the version number does not work on my system.
