All I can suggest is that you look into `gdb`, `strace`, `lsof`, 
Valgrind, and/or perhaps trying with the latest stable Gambas
version.

Suggestions are very welcome, though ones that are pertinent to Gambas 
and with some guidance (or links to) would be more helpful.

Anyone else got suggestions, or thoughts if any of the Lee's are 
appropriate, which are more likely to be of use in trying to narrow down 
the issue and specifically how to go about using with the Gambas?

e.g. if I try to use gdb it complains the gambas executable is "not in 
executable format: File format not recognised"
