[Gambas-user] Coloured Buttons

Is it possible that Gtk+ doesn't know coloured Buttons?

I have a form that used to have a range of coloured buttons (simple 
Buttons with .Background set to a color at runtime). Under KDE they were 
coloured, but under Ubuntu Mate (Gtk+) they all appear with standard 
"Background" color.

The buttons even cannot be coloured manually via the IDE.

Or does it have to do with Mate?

Any hint is appreciated.
