Is everyone using ibus as an input method?  Qt can have setup issues when it comes to ibus.  Do a search on linux ibus xim and see if anything helps.  Also, run qtconfig-qt4, check the interface tab for the input method info at the bottom.  You may need to change the settings if your system uses ibus.
