(I'm responding here because this thread is a mess)

I just updated the installation instructions on the wiki for those who  
want to
download the development version from git :  
http://gambaswiki.org/wiki/install#t6 .

This should help those who are unfamiliar with git, and just want to  
download the
latest development version. :-)
