Sorry my in my previous note I made a mistake:

jessie has Gambas 3.5.4 installed and upgrading jessie to stretch means upgrading gambas 3.5.4 to 3.8.4 and that is when the problem occurs.
So, you end up with gambas3 and gambas3-ide version 3.5.4 instead of 3.8.4
