I am running liunux mint 17.1 cinemon. I have Gambas 3.1.1
I had the problem of the cursor not aligning. off by 2 or three spaces
I believe the problem started after I made the Gambas3/editor font size  
larger.
I tried changing System Settings/Appearance/Fonts/Font Settings/

    Text Scaling Factor = 1.0
    Antialiasing        = Rgba
    Hinting             = Full
   THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM!
