Thanks Bruce,

Have tried the magic line although nothing like yours. I have now tried it and again no joy.
As there is no env in /bin I have tried #!/user/bin/env and #!/usr/bin/gbw3 and many other combinations.
I have saved the file as text named index.html from the text editor into /var/www. thanks for the help and any other suggestions.
