I don't know. They are not backends, but completely different systems.

The question : can we used GStreamer with SDL (without gb.sdl.sound)?

Theoritically yes, but GStreamer seems to need a glib event loop, but 
it's not sure yet, and gb.sdl implements its own event loop. So I don't 
know if both are compatible.

The future will have the answer.
