Try this:
./reconf
./configure
make
su -c "make install"

If this doesn't work, create a log file and send it to Benoit. He is the man.
(./configure; make; make install) > output.txt 2>&1

Double check the README DOCUMENTATION on the http://gambas.sourceforge.net/
