One thing I did notice about using a popup dialog is that displaying, hiding of the form or its controls, or changing a .Text property (I hide the progress bar on the form normally and only expose it with .Visible=TRUE when I am about to do an iterated process that may take some time as well as change the message text with the Form's textlabel's .Text="") requires judicious use of WAIT to ensure you get the form or control visible or that the message text in the TextLabel updates before doing anything with them. .=================================================. | Christopher BRIAN Jack aka "Gau of the Veldt" | +=================================================' | oevna at ...1544... `=================================================- Hi Spambots, my email address is sputnik at ...1334... NO. That makes no sense. Use the LAST Keyword to find out which of the grouped Objects has sended the keypress. Usually it's LAST.TAG ,so you have to give a unique TAG to all of these Objects grouped in 'MyGroup'. In a groupe you can take all different kinds of components/objects, so you have 1 SUB where the keypressed of an form is handled. Amicalment Charlie > > > Regards Rohnny From rohnny at ...1248... BTW: Can the IDE be instructed to leave a CVS directory and .cvsignore file alone if found in .gambas? Those file need to be there so that CVS knows .gambas MUST exist in the repo (or the project fails to load) and the .cvsignore is there to tell CVS to ignore files in the dir other than its own (CVS dir and .cvsignore). CVS ignores only work for the directory they are defined in so there's no other place in the project dir that will achieve the same effect. Alternatively have the IDE recreate the .gambas dir if not found when starting a project, rather than aborting with an error. Then .gambas can be made put in a .cvsignore one level up where it won't affect current compilation behavior in .gambas and would thus not need modification. The console shows the follwing when used with the rest of my project: myConfig _init(): starting up myConfig [](r): old=1, new=1 The _exit() sub has a PRINT so it should be indicated on the console. I wish there were a .name property on every object, because there is a lot of legacy VB code that's a pain to convert without it. You have to do something like this: > PUBLIC SUB SomeSub(client as Control) If client = SomeTextBoxOnMyForm ... End If > END Unfortunately, this isn't useful for debugging, and the solution is to use tags or other kludges. Seeing as how we can name event handlers using strings at run time using Object.Attach, meaning symbol names are never completely stripped out, I can't understand the opposition to getting control names at run time too. What about adding a project option: [x] Create Symbol Lookup Class Implemented as a static class that automagically generates the big long list of If's needed to be able to look up names for an object handle and make sure the IDE always regenerates it prior to compiling or recompiling. The only problem is this would also require [x] Make form controls public, and that is not a good thing. .=================================================. | Christopher BRIAN Jack aka "Gau of the Veldt" | +=================================================' | oevna at ...1544... `=================================================- Hi Spambots, my email address is sputnik at ...1334... The same compilers in the so-called real languages usually support "-g" :P And on the note of real programming languages I'm sure we've all discovered the joy (and I sure hope you see the dripping sarcasm in that) that is debugging C/C++ code after it's compiled into assembly hence why there are actually C/C++ interpretors out there. gbx could support two-way debugging with differential history (so you can rewind the runtime like playing a VCR tape in reverse-seek) and that would be really nice, especially if it supports interpretor throttling so the debugger can provide a speed control (letting you run the code in slow-motion so you can see a bug as it's happening then rewind and find out exactly where you are in your code at that point). There's a lot of things interpretors can do at debugtime/runbug time that compilers cannot. .=================================================. | Christopher BRIAN Jack aka "Gau of the Veldt" | +=================================================' | oevna at ...1544... `=================================================- Hi Spambots, my email address is sputnik at ...1334... Last successful build (from source) was version 1.9.44 on Fedora Core 5 (i386). I recently installed Fedora Core 6 (i386) on the machine and built 1.9.44 from source again. However I encountered an error which I was able to fix, and an error which I have been unable to fix. Just in case, I built 1.9.45 from source with the exact same results. First, and fixed error: "Cannot load class 'Project': Unable to load class file" Which I fixed by symlinking /usr/lib/gambas2 to /usr/local/lib/gambas2. Second, and unable to fix error: "Cannot load class 'Stock': Unable to load class file" Can anyone give me a hint? It takes now a file path, and returns a File object that is the result of opening and locking this file. The UNLOCK syntax is the same as before. * Min(), Max() and IIf() syntax has changes. Min() and Max() now takes two arguments, and two arguments only. IIf() takes three arguments only. But now they behave correctly with Variant arguments. Consequently, the bytecode has changed, and all projects must be updated if they use the LINK instruction, and recompiled anyway. Soory for the inconvenience! Otherwise, the main changes are: * The IDE supports projects managed by Subversion, but not CVS yet. * The debugger was redesigned. This is not finished yet. * Controls have a Name property now. Old VB users will be happy. :-) * The Wiki has been translated to Farsi. * There was many fixes to support right to left written languages, both in controls and in the wiki. * And tons of other bug fixes as usual, that you will read of course at http://gambas.sf.net/changelog2.html. :-) Regards, -- Benoit Minisini From joe1962 at ...626... What are you talking about? This must have been fixed. 1.9.44 balked when trying to open a project whose .gambas directory didn't exist. This means the .cvsignore can now reference .gambas from the main project dir (rather than from inside of .gambas). This solves the problems of having to keep files in .gambas just to tell CVS to ignore what's there (and then having them "not ignored" after a recompile-all wipes all the files there). .=================================================. | Christopher BRIAN Jack aka "Gau of the Veldt" | +=================================================' | oevna at ...1543... `=================================================- Hi Spambots, my email address is sputnik at ...1334... I can't work with gambas now by switch SuSE to Kubuntu at home and at work from SuSE to win98se with free VB6 'working model' I need to know first more the how-to with Kubuntu for fine tuning of it. For the project working on I can fall back on large codebase I made in the past for same kind of job and progress is high speed now. Reinventing the code with gambas cost to much time with the unexpected behaviors of it and missing the database bound controls. The advanced form printing is one of the problems. BTW The reason for Kubuntu is the mess with SuSE 9.2 version after it is changed to openSuSE/Novell to get the libraries for poppler/svn etc. Ron From eeller at ...826... I was using the default font and size, monospace, 10. This caused M to appear to be N (when displayed as an operator). By increasing the type size or changing to a different font, the M could be made to display correctly. I ended up using Efont Fixed Wide, 10. Looks way cool. I have a number of child forms that are within a mdi workspace. If I use "Workspace1.Add(FormName)" the form is added expanded to the full area of the workspace with the form placed top left in the workspace and black area to the right and bottom of the workspace. If I use "Workspace1.Add(FormName,True)" the form is added to the workspace normal size and resizeable. Blank space still outside the form to the right and bottom in the workspace. My question then is there a way to align each form in the centre (or specific position) of the workspace. For example if the workspace was 1024 pixels wide and the form was say 640 pixels wide, maybe something like "Workspace1.Add(FormName,Resizable,X,Y)" eg "Workspace1.Add(Form1, True, (Workspace1.Width-Form1.Width)/2, 10)" which would place the child form at X=192 and Y = 10 for example. I hope this makes sense, also maybe there is a way to do this already? (It happens at another part and runs through flawlessly there.) So thank you for all your comments. Rolf From timothy.marshal-nichols at ...247... Yes, thats true, I'm not trusted to fix it :) Wel the reason is I made/had problems to activate svn on my box. The SuSE repository is a bit messy for SuSE 9.2 so I follow the MS rules and installed better. Now I'm switched over to Kubuntu 6.10. I must still install SVN and I have to reorganize the SuSE partition. Just found my khubd working 85%system load and the hub is dead. :( Bad luck with usb keyboard but my old one is up again. ahem, it is a;ready there, svn1.3.2-3unbuntu and I hoop it is the good one. :) I go setup the source and runtime tree now. Then I must import in 46a and let you know later how it goes. Ron. From Karl.Reinl at ...9... Fri Nov 24 01:28:35 2006 From: Karl.Reinl at ...9... The rule is: when reading an expression, or the second argument of an operator, a single newline is ignored. This allows you to write complex expressions on several lines. For example, you can write: a = b & c & d & e & f & g But not: a = b & c & d & e & f & g Regards, -- Benoit Minisini From eeller at ...826... Sun Nov 26 06:01:48 2006 From: eeller at ...826... But = 618 * 2 * 60 * 100000 = 74,160,000,000. You can get the right result by using a Long or Float data types. This shows what I mean: PRINT CLng(618) * CLng(2) * CLng(60) * CLng(100000) / (CLng(618) * CLng(2)) / CLng(360) Thought there are better ways of programming the calculation.
