I don't know which version of MySQL Rob used to produce the RPM's.  If it was prior to 4.1 then this might be your problem.  Attached is a tar containing my libraries. I am not sure if this will work, but I suggest you copy your existing libraries and replace them with those in the tar.  Unfortunately you will need to manually manipulate lib.gb.db.mysql.la to point to the relevant files on your system.

It would be best to compile against your system, but I also had a lot of problems with getting 10.1 to do that (and I can't remember what additional RPM's etc. I had to install.)
