Okay thanks, this makes sense.
I updated the instructions in the Wiki so they make more sense as well
using <user>@svn.code.sf.net/p.... instead of gambas :)

It is all working fine now.

When commiting do I need to do:
$ EDITOR=gedit svn commit --username=....

or just
$ EDITOR=gedit svn commit
