You're mostly right, component developers use to keep on the edge and
configure files are built according to the libraries versions they're using.
So, you need a very updated system to be able to compile gambas,
nevertheless the distribution you're using, if you want to go on with Fedora
you can, but you must update to its latest version.
On the other hand, I've uploaded version 2.0 some hours ago, and maybe
checking its build dependencies could help you. You'll have to wait some
hours for the http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/gambas2 page to be
updated with the latest dependencies, but, as an example: your libXext error
needs more than the headers, in Debian you need to install libxtst-dev, and
these are the files it contains:
