When i use gb.form.dialog the dialog.Path does not set the filechooser.SelectedPath with Dialog.OpenFile()

In the source the instruction to set .SelectedPath is there but it does not seem to work.

It does select when using Dialog.SaveFile() just not with OpenFile()

I open IDE gambas 3.18.2.
I choose and open my project.
I save my project. i use ALT+TAB to go to my explorer thunar
With my explorer i change path of my project folder (cut myprject folder,paste somewhere else).
ALT+TAB to return to IDE opened. I click on File-> open project and IDE crash.

Message : This application has raised an unexpected error ans must abort
File or directory does not exist(#45).
[gb.form].DirCache.GetInfo.90

(Normal, because myproject folder doesn't exist now)
Could you add test if folder exist to check if folder is available before to open a new project to remove this crash?

On one for i have 2 labels, 1 picturebox, 2 buttons and one timer.
If i use CTRL+A to select all and i clic on font property IDE crash with this message :

Null object(#13)
FProperty.ShowProperty.630

(normal because Timer does not have font property)
If i select all without Timer, it works.
To resume:
When i select a lot of widget ni the same time, if one widget does not have font property, Main properties grid should not be displayed in.

sure , here's a simple test app.

2 buttons, 
one uses Dialog.OpenFile() with User.Home &/ ".config/gambas3/gambas3.conf"
OpenFile does not show filename and does not select item in fileview.

one uses Dialog.SaveFile() with User.Home &/ "gambas3.conf"
SaveFile shows filename in textbox but file is not selected in fileview if it exists,

this is only when using gb.form.dialog , if normal dialogs are used it works as expected.

Note: the common control properties are always shown. If some of the selected controls are virtual (i.e. not real controls), then applying these properties on them will be silently ignored instead of crashing.

Thank you Ben, I figured it was a FileView problem more than the dialog component as i have had problems getting FileView to show SelectedPath in the past.  this should fix those issues too. :)

That's it. Under wayland, you can't directly take a screenshot of the screen or of a window.

Apparently we now have to use DBus for that, at least on Gnome. I will see what can be done...

I don't see a good reason to make a difference between an object that is a structure and an object that is not. Why do you need that?

when an application has a generic way of writing objects to a file, It must understand if it is writing a gambas object or a structure in order to take the correct
action to enable the application to read the data back from the file. ie some sort of header.

for example when writing an object as a variant, a gambas object contains a single byte followed by the name of the class followed by the data.

when an object which is a structure is written as a variant then the single byte is written but the class name is missing..

the format of each property in a structure has a different format than a property in a gambas object...

In short, a way is required to identify if one is writing a structure or gambas object to a file or pipe...

Are you talking about the format used by READ and WRITE for writing binary data?

This is an internal format, undocumented by design. You are not supposed to use it except indirectly and temporarily for serialization with WRITE and deserialization with READ. "Temporarily" because you must not use it for storing data for a long time.

No, it's wrong to use the serialization format of Gambas, which is not intended to be public.

It's still not clear to me if you are doing that or something else. It's actually not clear what you want to do -exactly-.

And the question "is an object a structure" does not always make sense in Gambas, so I need a lot more details.

I tested gtk2 as well and that also gets it wrong, seems gtk3 is the only one that is working as expected.
I also tried Marco as compiz can be weird and got the same results.

This is getting a little strange. I actually don't care in the end how Gambas writes the data.
My Examples previously were used to identify that internally the interpreter does know if an object is 
a struct defined in the application.

Here is the scenario of the app being used.

If I define a Structure

struct MyStruct 
   fox as boolean
   cat as boolean
   dog as boolean
   name a string
end struct

Gambas created a class called MyStruct
This class can be instantiated anywhere.

I can also create a gambas class

class MyClass
   Dog as boolean
   cat as boolean
   fox as boolean
   name as string
public sub _write(mystream as stream)
    ' process and send data
end
Public sub _read(mystream as stream)
    ' receive and process data
end
end class

This class can be instantiated anywhere, and know how to transmit and receive itself.
Unlike structures which can not be told how to transmit and receive itself.

I have a generic class called transport that can send objects and receive objects it knows the stream etc
It knows nothing about the actual application classes etc. So can not use class names to identify what they are.

class SafeTransport

public sub _new(theStream as string)

   ' open and prepare the stream, tcp probably

public sub Send(MyObject as object) as boolean

    ' send the data object to other side adding headers etc needed to id info on other side
    ' it is here that I need to identify the object as a gambas defined structure to

Apparently the toolbar does not like the AutoResize property set on its parent, the form. Which is not unexpected, as the toolbar tries to fit its parent that may try to fit the toolbar because of the AutoResize property...

Your main form has Arrangement set to 'Fill' and AutoResize set to 'True'.

This is a non-sense, because 'Fill' means that all children must have the same size as the form, and 'AutoResize' means that the form must have the size of all its children combined.

You will never have something useful with that. I just prevented the toolbar layout code to enter an infinite resize loop.

But you have to explicitly check the 'gb.desktop' component to access it at the moment. Otherwise the old X11 screenshot code will be used.

As I stated in my bug report it happens in ALL my projects.
I created an empty test project with Fmain, no code, go directly to project properties -> environment -> add and get the error.
So the error doesn't seem related to the project.
Gambas is installed from Gambas ppa

This tab was incorrectly backported from the development version. This is why it does not work, it should not be there.

I will remove it from the stable version.

I haven't had time to look into it yet, but it seems that saving several screenshots in an array as I used to do is no longer possible (see image).
At least the single screenshot now works
