I got an answer and a few news:

1.Yes, the error is always the same on my PC #1, fitted with an Intel I5 and running with the Nouveau Nvidia driver because of an older Nvidia card. So its a pretty lame duck.

2.I noticed that the "stall" happens much more often, when I use a virtual machine on my PC #1. Actually it almost impossible to develop web-apps with gb.web on a VM.

3. Because of above 2 I just tried to reproduce it on my rarely used PC #2, same PC type, same mainboard but fitted with an I7 running under a higher clock rate than the I5 on PC#1 and I am using the CPU GPU. On this my machine I can't reproduce the bug. I attached the system info for your reference.

4. Because of above 3 I tried to reproduce it on a VM on PC#2. The "stall" happened almost immediately.

So there is clearly a dependency on system performance and I suggest to try it again on a VM if available.
