Instead I have this code at many place that raises an error: (Draw.Font.Height()). The braces must be removed.

A user in the German Gambas club reported a wrong text format in his IDE editor under Kubuntu 22.10 - see attached screenshot.
A detailed review of his system information showed, that he applied a desktop scaling:
QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=eDP-1=1.4375;HDMI-1=1.4375;DP-1=1.4375;
When I changed the Kubuntu 22.10 "global scaling" to 125% (see another attached screenshot) I got the same problem. So this was reproducible and I hope it can be fixed.

I removed the stable version of the Kubuntu 22.10 repository and with the compiled latest Git development version I also couldn't find any issue with the editor format any longer. Do you have any idea what might have fixed it, because I want to close the thread in the German Gambas club - if available with a little background.

I suspect a QT bug workaround on font management that I removed in the development version because it was apparently not needed anymore.

Hello, 

Since the last commit of Gambas DEV, it's not more possible to open the FileViewer to assign an Icon to an Graphical Object in the IDE, like a Button, Label, etc...

When I click on the little Dir icon, I got this message Error:

=> See attached screenshot

If I choice the 'Ignore' button in the Error message, I'm able to see the FileViewer but the Tab for the Gambas Icons / Icons in the project dir has disapeared.

So something is broken in the FileViewer I guess

Whenever I use the file saving dialog with GTK3, I get an empty "overwrite" button, if the file already exists. With "empty" I mean that the word "Override" is missing - see attached screenshot. This happens on Mint 20.3 Cinnamon, Mint 20.3 Mate and Kubuntu 20.1 KDE.
If I use QT5, the "Override" button normally has an according inscription. However, I have the experience that also under QT5 the "Override" caption of the left button is missing from time to time.

The test was actually wrong from the start, because as Gambas is written in C, converting 100000 to a signed short integer is undefined according to the C standard. It usually returns -31072, but this is not a guarantee. So it's far better to raise an overflow instead of relying of an undefined behaviour.

So it's a bug in the documentation and should be fixed there as well as the test itself.

If Gambas should throw an overflow error in future we can implement it in the tests as TODO.

For example in this way:

    Assert.Error()

To follow is an app that makes it's own custom window.

I made a class inheriting Label to add some shadow but came across an error.

I found if i removed the Border from the label then the Align.Center did not happen and the text was placed to the Left.

If you run the following application you will see the added shadow text (black) is center but the labels white text is aligned left.

If i set Label.Border to any value other than none the text is then centered correctly.

Also, oddly, if I change the printing of the Black text in ShadowLabel.class to use Paint.Text, then Paint.Stroke and not use Paint.DrawText then also the bug goes away.

Okay , here is a video..

In the clip....
I run the application with the ShadowText file using Paint.DrawText to paint the shadow.
With no border the black text I draw is center as should be but the Labels own White text is aligned left.

Then i set the labels Border = Border.Plain
Then the white text is centered okay.
Then i turn off the border again, back to misaligned text.

Then i change the Black texts command in ShadowLabel.class Paint.DrawText to be Paint.Text and Paint.Stroke instead and the text is then aligned correctly.

So i have a workaround to use Paint.Stroke anyway but seemed like a bug. Sorry it's possibly expected behaviour, only you would know.

I was on Breeze so i changed to Cleanlooks

No bug on cleanlooks or any others just Breeze theme

But now i noticed the left of the text is being cut off on all themes (see oic)

Of course. I should have provided the demo app without being asked - sorry.
I actually wanted to prepare it but forgot it over the busy Christmas days.

How to use the demo app:
Start it and click on Save Text - button and save the text in a file in your home directory.
Then repeat the saving dialog and save the text under the same file name. This will
provide you with an additional "override" dialog where the "override" button is empty -
at least on my platform.

Same problem with changed themes. Changing the focus with the tab key doesn't change anything. Same with GTK2. Same on Mint 20.3 Cinnamon (real PC), Mint 20.3 Mate VM, Kubuntu 20.1 VM, OpenSuse Leap 15.3 KDE VM. Same with latest master.

In the master there was a '&' inside the text to translate ("&Overwrite"). I removed it, as "Overwrite" alone was already translated. So the translation of ("&Overwrite") was removed, and apparently the problem with it was gone too!

Many thanks for having a closer look. My GTK translation suspicion was wrong.
I just updated the master via ppa (3.17.90+git202212282113.e7b5908a0+build31-ubuntu20.0.4.1)
and can confirm, that the saving dialog works well now. 

So the bug can closed as "fixed".

this seems to be confusing the line formatting.
I experienced the same thing trying to use gambas with wayland the other day and assumed it was a wayland problem but on trying the ide with qt5/x11 i have the problem here too.

It renders the IDE text editor unusable.

In the clip i load the ide with qt5 toolkit and try to enter a Dialog. line.
You will see the font error.

PS, there is a long pause waiting for the autocomplete to unfreeze, this happens more regular now.

The option "fusion fixes" was enabled in my qt5ct. after disabling that the bug has gone.

Odd though because gambas ide was the only thing giving a problem.

launching the IDE freezes after startup (actually easy to see, it doesn't snow). 
Normally I start apps with a single click.
But when I double click the Gambas3 icon on the desktop the IDE freezes (but sometimes it doesn't). 
Now and then also with the single click.

Do you have a slow computer?

What happens if you disable the JIT compiler (by putting 'GB_NO_JIT=1' in your environment)?

I tried with GB_NO_JIT=1 and could not reproduce it anymore, and switched back JIT, it froze again
