For more details: the settings file is saved in a temporary file like before, but is finally renamed to its final path with the MOVE ... KILL instruction which relies on an atomic system call for its operation.

So, if you have a crash, either you have the old file, either you have the new one, but you should not get a piece of Settings file being copied anymore.
