Gia Hung NGUYEN reported a new bug.
Summary
-------
Please port Gambas to Windows
Type : Request
Priority : Medium
Gambas version : Unknown
Product : Unknown
Description
-----------
Gambas on Windows is currently archived by utilizing Cygwin and Cygwin's X. Being an application running on Cygwin's X server the performance should be very poor and integration with the other parts of the system is impossible. The fact is the last time I tried to install Gambas via Cygwin setup it just failed to run. This version is also not up-to-date, too.
The project MSYS2 changed the way we do thing. Now more and more people prefer using it instead of Cygwin. It used the Arch Linux pacman package manager to install packages so pretty much all packages needed to install according to the tutorial to build for Arch Linux are there except the Xorg parts.
Should you update Gambas the way it will no longer depends on any specific Xorg components and only use Qt or GTK as the backend to power up itself? On MSYS2, we have both Qt and GTK3. Both full featured and up-to-date. Many projects utilized MSYS2 to make their version for Windows. The most notable is Geany which is a GTK3 app.
