For your philosophy: I think you can consider testing in the IDE as an alternative form of debugging.

Debugging is triggered by F5 and after breakpoints repeatedly, and that F4 (test and optionally debug the application) behaves exactly the same way is logical in that sense, because it is an alternative way to do what F5 does (run and optionally debug the application).
