Today I found, that the visibility of the HTML-controls depends on the settings in the Debugging/ GUI-Component - menu of the IDE:

On Mint 19.2 Mate:
Current Desktop:  bad
QT4:              good
QT5:              good
GTK+2:            good
GTK+3:            bad

On Mint 20 Cinnamon
Current Desktop:  bad
QT5:              good
GTK+2:            good
GTK+3:            bad
