I almost cancelled this bug as the menus appeared again and i thought i had a different issue 
But no.
It seems if I open the system properties page and select Copy as i did for the bug report then after closing the system info form the menus appear.

Same for opening Preferences window.
Will reboot and recompile to make sure it's not another issue i may have.
