No idea what your desktop is: "pop:GNOME", I have never seen that.
As the desktop is unknown, 'gb.gui' loads the'gb.gtk' component as default.

Anyway, how a borderless ComboBox is displayed depends entirely on widget theme in use by the underlying GUI component. If it looks bad, Gambas cannot do anything against that.
