Whoah! I don't think we need to change the world for this. Just an 
option to open a project in the IDE in R/O mode. Even with my own 
projects I have sometimes wanted to just "Look at how I did that thing." 
without leaving it open to inadvertent dabbling. I know when I'm just 
doing a look-see. I dont want wholesale changes to prevent me changing a 
project unless I know the magic incantations.

Just my 20pesatas. (Go Aussies....please.)
