Yes, I support this.

Maybe this is a good idea.

I personally don't need it as I configure the IDE so that it does not
change anything by itself.

Generally I think this behavior of the IDE should be the default and
automatic formatting as well as automatic committing changes in Git
should require the user to enabled it in an additional step.

After that an extra button to switch these automatic actions off when
the project is loaded could be helpful.

Whoah! I don't think we need to change the world for this. Just an option to open a project in the IDE in R/O mode. Even with my own projects I have sometimes wanted to just "Look at how I did that thing." without leaving it open to inadvertent dabbling. I know when I'm just doing a look-see. I dont want wholesale changes to prevent me changing a project unless I know the magic incantations.

Just my 20pesatas. (Go Aussies....please.)
