Hi Benoit,

I back to you regarding the discussion we had about adding the Fedora build spec file into the process of OBS, and by this way be able to propose Fedora Gambas packages like others Debian, Ubuntu, Arch and OpenSuse distribution.

In fact during my research I found this web site where all Fedora Gambas packages are already built and available.

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/gambas3

Did you be aware about that ?

Just to have your opinion on that. Do we just add this site in the Gambas Wiki as reference for user on Fedora Linux distributions, or do we continue on the way to include the build on OBS like we discussed ?

Thank  you

Olivier

It's necessary for three reasons:

1) The official packages of Gambas in the distribution are almost always incorrect. They must follow a structure described in the wiki, so that the IDE packager works. Of course, who am I to prevent a packager from doing what he wants and break the project it packages?

2) We can provide packages for older versions of distributions. The distributions usually do not care with their old versions.

3) Thanks to the 'gambas-package-config' project, adding the packages for a new component for all distributions normally takes less than one hour.

As for the official Fedora packages, I don't remember if they are correct or not. Must look. But I guess they are not. :-)
