Brian, there has been a thread on this where exact the same issue was reported for Ubuntu 24.04/Mint 22 with AppImage.

Claus and Gianluigi seem to be the persons to address as they play around with AppImages.
I don't believe this issue has been solved, not sure, just read the thread.
