I guess many modern email clients hide these automatically. I see only the newly added parts, unless I want.

I want to see what was quoted because ideally it is an essential part of the answer. Quoting is there to extract the exact part of the original post that the new post is replying to.

I just checked again and browsed through a few threads. Most of the postings actually follow the netiquette. So I probably overreacted.

But when I see a couple of posts in a row where I have to scroll down because all the signatures and irrelevant stuff are quoted over and over again, I get annoyed.

This often happens to me in this mailing list and that's why I wanted to remind people of our netiquette.

Gianluigi's mail was just an example for that, I didn't want to bother him. Sorry, if that was the case.
