You must not check "words only". A word cannot starts with a space,
so
it cannot match " As String" with a space at the start.

oh, yes, my mistake. I read that "words only" as ‘whole words only’
because that's how I know it.

This is what it means: "whole words only". You want to match words only, and so you can't use a character that is forbidden inside a word.

The meaning of "word" is hard-coded, it's the following regular expression:

(^|[^_$[:alnum:]])<word>($|[^_$[:alnum:]])
