Thanks. I already tried many different fonts without success.

I received another hint that it works with Qt and GTK on Mint 22 
Cinnamon, which I could confirm with a fresh Mint 22 VM.

Before upgrading to Mint 22 it would be good to understand, why the 
Apple emojis are displayed with GTK3 but not with QT5 on Mint 20.3.
