Last night I even did a new build to make sure I wasn't mistaking and all build fine. I also checked the libmysqlclient-dev at ubuntu packages, to see what is different to default-libmysqlclient-dev on debian Debian uses default-libmysqlclient-dev and distributes mariadb as default when doing a mysql install. I have been working on the debian/mariadb combi on servers for quite a while now and never encountered strange anomalies or errors It used to be debian/mysql before debian switched to mariadb as default, so I run mysql as well before a past upgrade of servers. Ubuntu seems to refer from that as they have a packages libmysqlclient-dev, but also a package default-libmysqlclient-dev (this installs ibmysqlclient-dev) and seems to be a divertion from what debian is doing in favor of mysql. But, you somehow got it fixed (I wonder how) ;-) gbWilly
