There are other fonts that don't produce the error (DejaVu Sans,12; Liberation Sans,12), so it's not a critical issue.

I discovered that if I switch the Editor font from a font that allows "Callers..." to work to one that produces the error (Adwaita Sans,12; Noto Sans,12) when the "Callers..." search results grid is open, I get the error.

It's weird.
