You don't have to set the connection password in the IDE if you don't want to. 
You can fill the Password property of the connection object returned by 'Connections[]' yourself.

The hand icon tells the IDE to load the metadata of the component (for automatic completion), but the component will not be loaded automatically.
You will have to load it yourself in your code.
