And I don't see unexpected behaviour.

What do you mean by "the start color transparent is not displayed correctly" exactly?

Do you notice that an editable (i.e. not read-only) combobox has a textbox inside, and that consequently its Text property can be anything? 
On the contrary, the text of a read-only combo-box can only be one of the element of the List property.
