It seems there is NO solution.

You will need your applications designed for wayland not x11 if wayland has to be used.

If you read the links i gave above you will see waylands attitude is that we must rethink the way we write GUI programs to fit their modal !

I have been on the wayland developers mailing list arguing this but they really do not care to change.

Believe me we have all felt the annoyance you feel about this. sadly it is out of our control, sorry :(

So if wayland absolutely HAS to be used for whatever the reason then you (we) have to deal with it's limitations.
