To make it simple:

Case   Absolute Design-time-connection-path              Result

1.     /home/claus/Gambas/Database_Demo                  does not work
2.     /home/claus/Gambas/Database_Demo/.                works
3.     /home/claus/Gambas/Database_Demo/Database         works
4.     /home/claus/Gambas/Database_Demo/Database/.       works

The German Gambas Club member (an me) expect, that a normal absolute path (above case 1) should do. 
A normal absolute path pointing into the root directory of a project works for all cases - accept for a data base in the design time 
connection-property dialog.

Your demo app doesn't explain case 1 and 2 of the original bug demo app.
